It's July! It is World Watercolor Month! I have been doing a watercolor a day as I have in past years. Posting them has gone by the wayside, but I will try to catch you up. Here are the first six paintings and tomorrow I will post the last six. The first one is the Cumbres & Toltec railroad. #2 is from a photo on Photos and Memories of NM Facebook group. #3 Hollyhocks. #4 House in Ocate, NM. #5 My brother fishing on the Rio Grande. #6 Old Store at Ocate, NM.

How great you are doing the paintings for July!!! I love them all with the New Mexico theme. I like the rusty tin roof. The scenery is perfect for the area. The train is fun. Your brother fishing must be just south of Taos on the way to Española?? And I always love Hollyhocks. We never had any growing that I remember, but my Aunt May always did and they are everywhere. Beautiful paintings. Looking forward to more.
You inspire me to try more watercolors.
Jo,
Thanks for the encouragement. The watercolors are helping me focus more on painting this summer. I haven't done much pastels - for some reason, I just haven't wanted to go into my art room and focus. The watercolor challenge helps me. I have lots of photos of the old buildings in Ocate. And your are right about the fishing spot. You know your NM. Most of these little paintings are just straight painting - no special watercolor technique.
Thanks, I appreciate your comments about how you paint with watercolors. I’m in the middle of a pastel but will try some photos I like and maybe that will help.
