School is out as of last Thursday. I turned my grades in on Friday and was done. It felt good, but reality has not set in yet. It seems that I have still been very busy. Dang it. I am ready for some me-time. Although, I need some cleaning time. My house cleaning (which is never very good) has fallen to the wayside. A few minutes ago, I found a partially eaten cricket on the living room carpet. Thanks, Rocket. I went to get the vacuum cleaner, but then I got sidetracked. So, I thought I would blog a bit :)
My Great Dane died a few days ago. It was expected - in that he was old for a Dane. Plus, he had been getting slower, breathing heavier, etc. I loved on him lots this past week knowing that he would probably not make it through the summer. It made me pretty sad, weepy, and a big lump in my throat. He is already missed - such a gentle giant. While burying him, something funny happened. We have several arroyos on our place here. We use them for our pet cemetery, because they are a low spot and we don't have to dig so much. That is important when burying a large dog. We now have Zoe, Jack, and Max in one area. We also pile on old lumber and stuff to keep the coyotes from digging them up (sorry, I know that is unpleasant to think on). Anyway, while we were choosing a spot for Max, an armadillo jumped up and took off running for the trees with Rocket right on his tail. We went on about our business. Rocket eventually flushed the armadillo, which took off running again. This time he ran right at Toby and me in the arroyo, causing me to squeal. He ran between us and took cover under some brush. Rocket seemed more intrigued, and wanted to play rather than actually catch the critter. The armadillo jumped straight up in the air several times, ran around, and finally dove under some cover. It was so silly - brought a light moment to a rather sad job. Here is Max with his favorite girls
Last week after class, I picked up my art in Chickasha and took it to Lawton Viridian.
I had sold a few paintings and taken more to replace those. I had lunch with my cousin. The weather-guys were predicting a severe storm. Churches were canceled and people changed their plans. I went home as soon as we got the paintings hung. It really didn't look all that bad outside to me. Sure enough, we got a bit of rain and that was it. Such is life in the springtime in Oklahoma.
We celebrated JT's 7th birthday. He wanted a Star Wars cake. This cake decor is a specific battle in a specific movie, but I know very little about Star Wars. Usually JT likes to pretend to be Obi-Wan Kenobi which is why he is dressed as he is.
