Bit of a Scare

We had a bit of a scare last night. It seems that GBN1 got into a bottle of children's vitamins yesterday. Her mother called Poison Control. PC said that she would had to have eaten at least 20 vitamins for there to be any danger. Later they called back and said that GBN1 should be taken to the ER to have a blood test to see how much iron was in her blood. She could have iron poisoning. So Bo and Sara took GBN1 to the ER and sure enough the docs decided that she did have too much iron and that she should be transported to OU Children's Hospital in The City. This is where things got a bit anxious. We came into town to pick up GBN2 from her Nana so that Nana could then go to The City. Sara rode in the ambulance with GBN1 while Bo followed in the car. On the way to The City, Nana stopped at a gas station and met the ambulance returning from having just dropped GBN1 at the hospital. The EMTs said that GBN1 had done well on the trip and had learned to squirt everyone with a syringe of water. That was after 10 PM and was the last I heard until this morning. A few minutes ago, B & S called to say that they were all okay and on their way home. The City docs gave GBN1 a few shots to bind her iron with something or other and then just watched her to make sure she was functioning fine. They released her this morning with plans for her to visit a doctor tomorrow and again next week to monitor her.

In the meantime, GBN2 is still with me - helping me blog this morning. She is quite fascinated with Ranger and having a grand time. Today is my daughter-in-law's, birthday. I hope she has a good day. She said just knowing that her baby was fine was a good enough birthday.

Here is GBN2 in her pj's feeding Ranger dog food from his bowl. He is ever so careful with her.

My little brother did the same thing when we were kids (he ate a whole thing of Flinstone's vitamins), and I think my mom had to take him to the ER as well.

Wow. I'm glad GBN1 is OK! This is the downside of making vitamins look and taste like candy, ya know. On the one hand: good idea. On the other... not so much. (I have an immediate grasp of the obvious. It's one of my better qualities.) ;-)

I'm glad to hear everything's alright! Scary. I didn't know about the iron thing. Information to store for the future GBs at my house. If you need comic relief - you can watch the Tony and Slacker movie on Mr. E's blog! It should help:)

So glad that everyone is doing ok!!! Blaine got into something and I had to call the poison control, I can't even remember what it was. I wonder how many young kids eat vitamins? Buck is right they do look and taste like candy...I liked eating them as a kid..if fact I think I ate some as an adult when I bought them for my kids LOL Glad all is well.

I personaly don't think they taste all that great. I am glad she is O.K. and all is well. I know you are relieved.

I babysat for a little boy one time who found a foil wrapped suppository for nausea in the fridge, thought it was candy. I found him in the hall gagging, must not taste like candy!

Junk Diva had the best idea. She told me that she used to give her kids something to make them throw-up - then they were okay. I think there is some wisdom there - don't know how much...

Maybe I should call the Lawyer Brother and see if we can sue Flinstones - yeah right.

I'm glad she is ok! I gotta echo everyone on the vitamin thing. I think they should go back to the vitamins I had to take when I was a kid. They looked like pills and tasted like--well, vitamins! No one could mistake them for candy.

Answered prayers & mercy...I am thankful.

Cute pic of the baby sister. GBN2 is Cindy Lou Who to me. That's how I describe her to people. Those big eyes...she's one of the cutest little girls there is. I'm quite sure you will agree.

CoP, Cindy Lou's daddy was just pretty cute back in the day with the same big blue eyes, except he had white blonde hair. People used to come up and touch him because they thought he was so pretty. GBN2 is just pretty cute, too.
