Bear Trainer

The sun is shining and the wind is howling. Temperatures are freezing. Halliburton is closed again today. Although yesterday was a wonderful lazy day, I’m not sure I can keep the bear and his cub caged much longer.

Imagine what it was like for the women on the plains 100 years ago, with no electricity, inter-tubes, and teevee, etc., etc.. My bet is you'll feel better about things pretty quick. Or not. ;-)

Buck, I have been thinking about pioneer days. A friend of mine who grew up in RR tells some fine tales of the days before you could get in and out of RR easily - days before there was a ski area, before TV reception, etc. His homeplace had these wonderful carved beams, which in the winter time, he and his dad would sit and carve. I suspect there were lots of things to keep pioneers busy - wood chopping, candle making, sewing, carving, etc. And yet, I bet some pioneers were like caged bears.

too cold for them to go play outside?? too cold for them to "work" outside brushing off your car? and moving the snow to a safe place to melt? sorry.

I am hoping the roads are good by Saturday, as James and Amber called and want me to come back and help until the doctor says Amber can drive and lift stuff. James heads back to A-stan on Sunday.

Things are shut down here in the DFW area with rolling blackouts. should be 55 degrees for the superbowl, but all their parties have been frozen, and school and colleges are shut down again today as far south as Waco.

Cabin fever sets in pretty quick in those parts, I take it. At least everyone is safe and warm.

Just popping in to say hi and see how you are faring. The weather is pretty much business as usual here. And pretty soon we will all be complaining about the mud.
