2011 Hottern Hell Hundred
Riding through Sheppard Air Force Base is what makes the HHH worth the ride and the heat. As you ride onto the base, you are directed to an area where the big planes are parked and pilots stand waiting to visit and take photos with you. Then you ride a bit further through the planes up to the rest stop where airmen are waiting to hold your bike, get you a drink, help you with your camera settings since you are not wearing your glasses, and whatever else you need. Then you ride off through the gauntlet of young airmen who holler and cheer for you when it should be the other way around. It is just awesome. Last year I tried to video this part, but failed. This year I was ready with my camera. Toby was right behind me. As I stirred the airmen up, he said they nearly knocked him off his bike with high-fives. We took a few pics of the planes and of course, I had to have my picture made with some pilots. Toby flubbed the first shot. Oh darn, I had to put my arms around these guys twice! Any excuse! I'll post a few more pics of the race later. In the meantime enjoy this video and my fine Texas Twang.

help you with your camera settings since you are not wearing your glasses Oh, I hate it when that happens, but I'm sure that your helpers were cute!
Shoot, I might even ride a bike there just for the hugs! Too funny about the glasses. Nice video!
Brilliant! Really nice video work, considerin' you're on the bike and all.
Deb, without my glasses, I can't even tell if a photo is okay or not. They all look blurry to me.
Jo, Those young pilots were probably horrified, but they put on a good face.
Buck, Riding and filming was interesting. I almost hollered, "Don't touch me!" when they ran out with their high-fives. I really considered how it would be to crash in front of all those young airmen.
I LOVE your energy Lou --
excellent post!
