Tuesday's Busy-ness

Amidst all the busy-ness, I managed to vote yesterday. Since this is not a political blog, I'll not mention whom I voted for. You can look at the news and find out how OK voted. It is interesting to see the headlines that say Romney won six states, but some of those were very close with Santorum. With Ron Paul and Newt still pulling some votes, you have to wonder whom those people would choose if the race were only between Romney and Santorum. I'm thinking it would not be Romney.

Toby took a half day yesterday and came home at lunch to do some work around the house. Although we have moved into the new bedroom, the old one needs some love. One of the areas needing work is my computer and desk, which looks more like a pile of papers and stuff. It has to go - somewhere. My plan was to move my Dad's old desk into the hall of closets (room between the old part and new part) for my new computer/office area. When we went to get the desk out of the barn, we discovered it needed love too. So we sanded it and painted the bottom of it black while leaving the top natural wood. It is looking pretty darn good. It will be a nice reminder of my dad.

My upholstery class went well last night. I felt like I got lots accomplished on my lounge chair - talk about needing love! One of the downfalls of upholstering is the dirt and dust. Years of people sitting in those chairs or of being stored in someone's barn made for some nasty stuff. Last night, I cut out my material - yeha. Now to start putting my chair back together. The breaking down of the chair was not easy. I don't think this upholstery business is my thang.

Today I am tutoring and then heading to an art workshop. And I'm not happy about it, but I will put on a smiling face and get that way. The workshop was set up by one of the Painting Ladies. She found an acrylic artist to do a one day workshop for us. But none of us really work in acrylic. Well, I do, but none of the others. If it was left up to me, I would not have chosen this workshop or this artist or this medium. But hey, it is important to support your friends in their endeavors. It is just that it is a busy time. I know - I need to work on my attitude. The bright side is that it will be a creative time with good friends. That's better.

Yesterday was GBN1's actual birthday. I called her to wish her a happy birthday. She is just getting to be such a young lady. Here is a pic with a best friend - don't you love the big teeth.
And here is a pic taken on the Lazy B when she was two. My how she has grown!

Happy Birthday to GBN1. Time flies!

I think I KNOW who ya voted for; I wouldn't have gone the same way. But I still love ya. ;-)

Upholstery is hard. Around here, it costs almost as much to reupholster something as it does to just buy a new one. I don't even want to think about what is under my couch cushions.

Beautiful granddaughter!!

Upholstery is hard, hard work. You are brave to try so many new things.

Hope the workshop was fun in the end! Your right about supporting the friends. Sometimes it takes effort. Ha.

Becky,
Some of these chairs that are being re-covered have been stored or in some junk store for years. They are pretty nasty, but I think they are going to be very interesting.

Jo,
I will post on my workshop. It went better than expected.
