Weekend Review - Unfinished Projects

Tis the season to cut back on blogging.  With so many projects in the works, I have not had much time to worry about blogging.  Since I do love checking on my favorite bloggers and leaving comments, that takes up my allotted blog time.  I do not want to give up blogging, but I need to be okay with cutting back now and then.  It kind of frees the mind (which has been in a freeze.)

Last week was a busy week, and I put my tutoring on the back burner.  My tuttoree is worried about finishing her math book.  How many public school kids ever finish a text book?  With homeschool, you can set an easy pace and finish all your text books.  We should not have any problem finishing the math, but with so many other kids finished for the summer, my tuttoree is getting antsy.  Me too. I told her this week I was all hers.  So we are going to hit our algebra hard and heavy this week and hopefully finish soon.

I have three chairs that I need to upholster.  Why did I listen to the Diva and not do those chairs in class and skip my lounge chair all together?  I could have three nice chairs in my living room, but no, I had to do a more difficult chair first.  Now I have three more to do.

Of course there is my art.  Several people have been after me to do some watercolor classes.  Aieee! I need to be doing art for myself as well.

Toby and I spent a large part of the weekend tiling the bathroom.   You may remember that we did the counter tile, but did not tile around the tub and shower.  Last week we tiled around the tub.  This week we started the shower.  We still have more to do - another project to complete.

For fun and games, we went over to Shay and Lindz house Sunday afternoon for a cookout and some volleyball.  It had been a while since I played any V-ball.  You know how I love it! They have a sand court, which is much easier on us oldies.  Although the day was warm, it was a bit overcast - puhfect for V-ball.

Also on Sunday the Over 50 choir sang at church again.   Because I am short, I always end up front and center.  Back in my jr and sr. high school days, I sang in choirs, and I know the ropes.  I know to stand up straight, put your arms at your side, smile at the crowd as if you are enjoy singing, etc.  And that is what I did.  Well, at least two people told me after church how funny I was standing up front singing and smiling - "You were just like Sophie (GBN2)!  Now we know where she gets it!"  That wasn't the look I had in mind.  Of course it did not help that I sang the wrong words for one whole stanza, but the music was so loud, I could not hear well.  When I realized I was singing the wrong words, I did giggle.

I should mention my other fun this weekend - if you can call it that.  One of my friends turned 50 on Friday, and the ladies gave her a tea/hat party.  This particular friend has been enthralled with the Red Hat Society, and  is now old enough to join the red hatters - hence the hat party.  Personally, if the point of The RHS is being old enough to do what you want and not do what society says you have to do, why would you join a club where you had to wear specific clothes.  It's not for me.  But for my friend, I did decorate a hat - my cowgirl hat.

We will miss your daily stories, but we will survive. I have slowed down in blogging, but think I have just generally slowed down! Takes me more time to do anything.

You are just too busy. Hope the summer is good to you!

That's a brilliant picture of you, Lou. And I get yer point about the Red Hat Society. Back in the day my MIL was always and forever goin' on about how "liberating" it was to be over 50 and I never really understood what she meant. Now I DO. Bein' retired has sumthin' to do with that.

You DO have a lot on yer plate. I always tell people there's no way I could have blogged while I was working... and you fall into that same boat.

Maybe I will be like Jesse and do a photo blog.

Thanks, Buck. I doubt you ever let society rule you, but maybe the military to a certain degree. Now you are much more liberated.

There's more to life than blogging, girl! And it sounds like you are very busy.

To me, feeling obligated to blog every day takes the fun out of it. It makes it more a chore than anything.

You are right; it should be fun and not a chore.

Lou, as you know...I'm in the 12-step program of breaking myself from blogging. (Lots of things in play that I don't want to bore you with).

I'm glad you're just slowing down with it, not abandoning it.

Bitchin' photo btw!!!

Please don't misconstrue that...

I have read at least a dozen bloggers in the last few days talking about throwing in their chips...weird...

I know what you mean. Spring and Summer brings out the best in our real human face-to-face selves. When the torturous hell of cold weather passes, we come back to life, and tend to put el glob, and our virtual friends (who we really do love and appreciate) on the right back burner.

Here's you one! Sammiches & weenies... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Im8n-BYkCZQ&feature=results_main&playnext=1&list=PLD305120AC81C0B3C

Andy, I never have figured why they put daylight savings time in the summer when the days are already so long. It is just more time for Toby to find things for us to do. Last night we worked till dark putting down tile. The good news is that when we work like that, I don't cook supper. It becomes catch as catch can.

I think everyone has slowed down a bit. We're trtying to get our house ready to put on the market, and took in a tenant who moves in today. Cleaning 12 years accumulation of stuff from the upstairs apartment has been a killer, but now 1/4 of the house is good to go! My blog has suffered as well. I look forward to having a repaired, clean, decluttered house so I can settle back into summer hibernation and regular blogging!

LOVE the hat!!
