Day of Reckoning

It is the first of May and the end of the Whole 30 diet, although we have decided to continue on.  If you know me, you know I am a strong-willed person. Being on this diet was serious business for me - a test of sorts. I wanted to see if I could do it and how it would work for me. If I cheated, then I would not really know. I didn't want to get to the end of the month and think, "I should not have had that ice-cream cone." or something like that. So I stuck as close to the diet as I could. My biggest cheat was a bit of half-n-half at Starbucks in my coffee once. So how did I do? Well, I lost six pounds and an inch everywhere on my measurements (a bit more in my hip/butt/thighs).  Not bad. I will continue on. I do have a goal weight or a goal. I would like to go on a bicycle vacation with Toby and be thinner. It is not that I could not ride a bike as far as everyone else - I am an extremely strong person. I would just like to be in better shape.  Have you ever been seated on an airplane with an open seat next to you and a fat person comes walking toward that seat? In your mind you probably thought, "Lord, please don't let him sit here." Well, that is the same way people feel when they see me coming on a bicycle - Lord, she will  make it? I can make it, but I would like to look better doing it.

It is like that time Jesse's co-ed softball team was short a female. I played a few innings for the team. As I walked out to home plate to bat, the coach looked at me and sympathetically said, "It's okay. Just do your best." as if I could not possibly hit the ball, because I was old and fat. I socked it out to center field - better than any girl on his team.

As for Toby, he lost ten pounds, which is great, but a bit irritating. He cheated more on his diet having a beer now and then.  Men and their testosterone!  Not fair!  Jesse lost about six pounds and cheated a bit too. She is like her father and likes a beer now and then too. When I was her age, if I dieted, I could take the weight off fairly easily. It is much harder these days.  But I do want it off, and we will continue on.

Heh. I hate to break it to ya, Darlin'... but life is NOT fair. ;-)

That said, Good On Ya for losin' what ya did and further Good On Ya for keepin' with the program.

Thanks Buck. I'm sure there is something better about being a woman than a man, but I can't think of what it is right now.

Well, I'll quote Christopher Hitchens from memory (and he was quoting someone else): You can conceive. We can't.

Good Job! Glad we sat next to each on the airplane - would hate to be "that" person!

Congratulations on the weight loss. Yeah, it definitely gets harder as we get older. I've managed to lose 9 lbs since Christmas by using a site called Sparkpeople. I just use the food tracker, though they have more stuff on there. It can be frustrating, though, and sometimes I just have to wonder what is so wrong with being fat?

I thought we rubbed along quite well through out our vacation.

I've done a few tracker thangs on the internet after hearing how others did so well with them. I rarely kept up the tracking.I think there is a "comfortable fat" and an "uncomfortable fat." There is nothing wrong with being a bit bigger, but there is something wrong with those who are "huge" saying it is okay to be so huge.

Conceive is good. Although there are good things to being pregnant and giving birth, there are some downsides too.

I think I have a tape-worm. I'll eat diner and not five minutes later will open the fridge to see what's in there!
