Update on the Hamstring

At this time last week I was in South East Texas and had pulled my hamstring. The trek back across Texas was painful, but made easier by ice packs and ibuprofen. Today, I am better, but it is slow going. Literally, I have to move pretty slow to make sure I don't do anything to cause severe pain.  The severe pain happens when I do something like reach for something or step wrong.  Most of the time the pain is like a dull constant. You know that pain you feel in exercise class when you are doing stretches and the instructor says "hold that stretch and breathe into it." Well, that is the type of pain I feel constantly. It is just uncomfortable. Ibuprofen does help. And it does seem to be getting better.

I did a bit of painting while sitting in my recliner - thanks to Jo for sending me that great little watercolor kit and paper.  I will get a photo later and post it. I guess there is a sliver-lining somewhere.

My neighbor laughs at me because I use a lawn chair to rest in when I mow my lawn. I have to take two breaks because the arthritis everywhere. I don't need any pain pills, but if I sit down for 3 minutes, I'm good for another 10, so I have to mow fast! Getting old isn't for wimps! I'm trying this new humira stuff, but after 2 months I don't see much change. Supposed to be a miracle drug, but I think the miracle is in how rich they are getting :-) I need a riding lawn mower, but I'm too cheap.

My dad used to say he needed coffee and a cigarette to figure out some problem, but we all knew it was just his way of taking a break and resting up for a few minutes. Anytime we need a break, my family will say, "I need a cigarette and some coffee."

Good to keep on your break for a good while. Not easy to take time off though, I know. I take way too many cigarette and coffee breaks!
