The Week in Review

It's Friday. Friday the 13th even! March is flying by. I have not been meeting my goals - weight, art, etc. I have been exercising more thanks to the warmer weather. The Tutoree came over  earlier this week and gave me heck about my weight. I told her that if she came to talk about my diet, she could just go home. She said, "But don't you want to lose weight?" Of course I do. "Then don't you want to count calories?" Oh hell no! We moved on to other subjects. I guess I am at my fighting weight.

The big girls came to art on Tuesday. I only had three girls, but I love those girls. I showed them a portrait that I had done of my DIL who is very fair complected, but the skin tone that I had tried was way too red.  I had been trying to get a "in the shadow" skin tone. We discussed this and then moved on. Later, I was going through some photos that I thought we might paint from. I showed them a picture of a young Indian boy in full dance costume. I said he would be fun to try in watercolor. One of my art girls said, "And you already have the skin tone figured out." Smarty!

Yesterday I had lunch with two of my friends who had birthdays this week. It was a fun gathering, although one lady was 45 minutes late and offered no excuse. I find that irritating. But I did enjoy my time with the other friend. And I gave the late friend a rather difficult time - teasing her about every little thang - made me feel better.  Although I was teasing her, I was kind of serious. I am turning into my father. After lunch, I babysat the GGs and Mr T. They were fun especially since the day was warm and we could play outside. We also did some of their school work and watched a short cartoon.

Today I taking the GGs to piano. It helps my DIL. Taking the GGs while she keeps Mr T.  He does not do well at piano. I don't know why. He sits through hours of church. But I guess piano is pretty boring. I know it was for me back in the day.

Tomorrow we are having an open house/house warming for Jesse. My sister is coming in to WF since it is her spring break. It should be fun. I'll let you know.

I had a friend who I always met weekly for lunch. I am punctual by breeding. But I noticed something that made me jealous. When our mutual friend always arrived late, said friend would light up with enjoyment at this persons arrival. It was almost as if saying "Finally! someone I can talk to!" I often wonder what became of them.

Your right about church being more entertaining! More people and "stuff" to look at. Nice of you to do the piano lesson thang.
I'm getting to be more and more of a hermit. One of these days I will find a local painting buddy. We still try to be on time, but we are both slower and have to start sooner.

I hate those piano teachers who teach like basketball coaches. I remember we had to dribble the ball back and forth alternating hands across the court for 20 minutes every day. They said it would develop muscle memory. Dribbling wasn't my problem, putting the ball through the little round hoop, THAT was the problem...

My other on-time friend was a joy to visit with. Maybe it was a good thing the other lady waslate.

I wish I could be your painting buddy on a day to day basis.

I could play the piano with my right hand. I could play with my left. I had trouble playing with two hands together.

Counting calories doesn't mean you'll lose weight. Continue to eat what you're eating (or maybe skip a few snacks/desserts) and get a little more exercise. Over time you'll drop some pounds.

It worked for me...

My dad always said "push-aways" would make you lose weight. Push away from the table.

Calories always factor in, except other units are better to track. For example I was on a 1200 calorie diet, but the units I built my meals from were called exchanges. Drove me to drinking...
