Painting of the Week

My art classes started on Tuesday. Knowing that my students probably had not painted all summer and some would not have something in mind to work on, I had the whole class do the same lesson/project. I chose a painting from a book by Mark Svob, a Canadian artist. It was to be a lesson on drawing out the painting (seeing relationships between the buildings and such) and painting the darks and lights that make the painting interesting. The PoW is my finished painting. The students will have another class to finish their work. This painting is larger than most of my PoWs. It is acrylic - 11x16 on rag paper.

Thank you, Ladies and Gent.

The art book has some great paintings by Svob of Lake Louise and other Canada scenes - I like his loose style, although my painting is not as loose as his.
