Painting of the Week

Here are two paintings done this week. One is a watercolor of NYC. The other is from a painting/photo of a place in France called "Mont Mart" I believe. Friends traveled there this fall and took the photo of the place and a photo of a painting that based my painting on.

Jesse and Lindsay celebrated the end of their semester and finals last night. They were very silly and entertaining. This weekend they both will be in a wedding as bridesmaids. Lord help us. The bride knows them and loves them, but I worry about the unsuspecting parents of the couple. With the bad weather that is coming in this weekend, the wedding should be a highlight. I will take pictures and report back.
Just a funny story about Jesse's Spanish final last night. We went out to eat at one of our favorite restaurants where a young friend from Mexico works. I told him that Jesse had just made and A on her Spanish final. I made Jesse say something in Spanish, and she did. With a very straight face, Omar said, "I think you wasted your money."

I love both of the paintings. They turned out great! I love the leaves in the Mont Mart painting. I will have to paint that one too.

Great paintings, as always! The one of Sacré-Coeur (the famous white cathedral at the top of Montmarte) strikes a chord. Yet another bitter-sweet memory...this time it's the time TSMP, a college friend of hers, and I stayed in the cafes of Montmarte one evening, well past the time the buses and Metro quit running. We'd blown ALL our money on wine and other necessary entertainment and wound up walking back to the flat we were staying in. A four-hour walk (stagger?) through Paris in the early, early morning, as it turned out. Needless to say, all three of us were DEAD-tired by the time we got home.

Nice photo of Jess and Lindsay, too. Congrats to them both!

Ashley, Thanks. I wish it had turned out more like your paintings - thick and wild.

Buck, it sounds like the memory is bitter-sweet. It would be such a wonderful time to be at a cafe in France drinking and having fun. The walk home would be something to remember too. Sorry that those times are gone. It makes me want to kick TSMP in the beehind.

That was funny what Omar said! The paintings are beautiful, as usual. You do such good work, Lou.

Lou, I love the paintings!!, they make me want to travel.I just bought a calendar today from Hastings called "Windows of the World" It had beau-u-tiful pictures in it like these. Shoot had I of thought, I could have just shopped thru all your stuff and stole copies to made my own calendar!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just kidding, but wouldn't it be lovely if you could paint me one like the one you did for my housewarming, there just happens to be a hole on the wall beside it :) That's it, Now I'll just have to make it a point to be there next Thursday.
