Leap Day

I had not realized that it was Leap Year until Toby mentioned it the other day. When I told Jesse she could ask someone to marry her, she did not understand. So I googled Leap Year, and sure enough, there is an old tradition, even a Scottish law that says a woman can propose to a man on Leap Day. And they are suppose to say yes. So all you single women who have been waiting around for Mr. Right to pop the question, now is your chance.

"They also made it law that any man who declined a proposal in a leap year must pay a fine. The fine could range from a kiss to payment for a silk dress or a pair of gloves." I think we need to re-implement this law!

jesse! this is brilliant! you can pick out a new silk dress, go ask someone to marry you, and bam! the dress is yours! or even better! pick out a really hot stranger, ask him to marry you, and when he turns you down....pucker up! but then again... he might say yes! this could be the best day of your life!

Speaking of Women asking men - Check out Sadie Hawkins Day on Wikipedia!

"Sadie Hawkins Day originated from a comic strip. It was a day-long event in Al Capp's comic strip Li'l Abner observed in Canada and in the United States on the Saturday that follows November 9, named after Sadie Hawkins, "the homeliest gal in all them hills." Each year on Sadie Hawkins Day the unmarried women of Dogpatch pursued the single men. If a woman caught a man and dragged him back to the starting line by sundown, he had to marry her."
-Wikipedia

i heard about the old scootish tradition thing on the radio yesterday too. of course the guys were making fun of it by saying stuff like "ugly women of the world pay attetion to this!"

i think it's kind of funny to hear about that because in february last year it was my wife asked asked me to get married, i was getting ready to do the whole romantic proposal thing, but she beat me to the punch!

plus i almost had a leap day nephew, which would have gone well with his dad being born on april fools day, and my birthday is cinco de mayo!

General Lee, we often joke that my husband's grandfather, the "origional Hub" was born on April Fool's Day. But Cinco de Mayo - what a great day for a party! By the way, the girls who are commenting here, are anything but ugly, which is why it is funny that they are talking about chasing down a man.
