Hot Days

Yesterday was errand day. All the stuff that I was supposed to do on Monday, I did on Tuesday. Not only did I do the weekly Wal-Mart, I met with the local news papers concerning the Art Guild ads. I did manage to squeeze in lunch with Toby, Jesse, and a couple of her coworkers. We ate at a Chinese buffet, which is quick and easy. Unfortunately the air conditioning at the restaurant was on the blink making it slightly uncomfortable. It is a sure sign of the dog days of summer when the temps are above 100 every day with no change in sight. Later, I saw the fire truck go speeding by me as I came out of The Shopper. A few minutes later, I caught up with the fire fighters as they were putting out a car fire in a parking lot. The temp in my car said 107. I thought it could easily catch on fire too.

I’m off to sit with the GGs today. It will be an all day event since their mother is going to OK City. I am stocked with new watercolor paints, markers, paper and such. I also bought a little swimming pool – yeha! When the cat is away, the mice will play.

It was HOT yesterday. Miserably hot. Don't you just love summer in OK!

It's interesting how different the weather is between here and all y'all, even though we're only 350 miles apart. We've been a good ten degrees cooler than y'all, and ten degrees is a LOT, when you're talking about 90 or 100, eh? But our heat is coming eventually, I suppose. The great good thing about The High Plains is the effect our altitude has on the WX: it always goes down to the mid-60s at night. And I have a window right above my bed... ;-)

Have fun with the grand-babies today!

Yeah, I remember that Oklahoma heat very well, thank you. The difference between it and the Florida heat is of course the Florida humidity..but one thing about it here most of the time that if you get in the shade and there is any breeze at all it is bearable..I remember getting windburnt sitting under a shade tree in Oklahoma..many times! That hot wind makes it just as warm in the shade as in the sun

guyk, I lived in McAllen, TX for a while - it is much like FL. I never thought it was any hotter in McAllen than it was in Wichita Falls, but it was just hotter year around in McAllen.

All, we had a great day with the GGs - I will post later.
