For My Next Trick...

Why are my leg muscles sore? Could it have been the standing and kitchen-work I did to prepare for the art show reception – nah. Could it have been rolling the tables out of the room and replacing them with screens, and then hanging paintings all afternoon – maybe? Could it have been standing around all evening at the reception mingling – some? Could it have been working like a sled dog at the wedding reception – probably? Could it have been dancing with the young people to some sort of line dance which called for "getting low" – I think we have a winner!

Sunday evening after the art show was packed up and put away and I got home around 5 PM, I just wanted to kick back and relax. I curled up in my chair with my book while Toby watched football. Jesse went to a neighbor’s to watch a movie. All was quite. Toby did eventually mention that his mother might come this weekend. That means I need to do the "mother-in-law" cleaning on my house. Sigh!

By the way I just wanted to mention that after the initial response to Lindz' leaving the wedding, Jesse is doing well. She is a trouper.

Great to hear you were able to get out of bed! You had a wild weekend and a busy time leading up to it. Glad to hear about Jesse, too.

I think Toby should do the MIL cleaning. And after that, come over here and help with some "prospective buyer coming to look at the house" cleaning with me! LOL!

re: m-i-l cleaning... I was in shock and somewhat awed at the level of effort The Second Mrs. Pennington generated in the cleaning space prior to my m-i-l's first visit to our house. Which gave rise to the term "Mom Clean" in our relationship... and that's a level of clean that rivals that found in any given surgical amphitheater.

The funny thing? "Mom Clean" lasted a good ten years before TSMP gave it up and let Mom see reality as we lived it. TSMP was a lot of things (mostly good) but keeping house wasn't her strong suit, btw.

Glad to hear Jess is doing well, and I hope your legs get to feelin' better!

Buck, house cleaning is not my strong point either. So when the m-i-l is coming, I better get busy. My m-i-l is really very sweet, but I live in a little house. It does not take much for it to look messy.

Jenny, I will try to make Toby do some cleaning, but he is pretty oblivious. Gosh, if I thought strangers were coming to my house, I'd realy be doing some major cleaning.

Cleaning isn't my strong suit, either. I used to be much better, but after the 3rd or 4th kid, I realized that it's going to get messy again faster than I can clean it. LOL! My husband is good at alot of things, but picking up, much less cleaning, isn't part of them.

I hope your legs recoup soon, I thought I was going to never walk again after getting ready and serving the rehersal dinner. But I loved every second of it, as I know you did too. Hey, we are going to line dance class Thrusday, wanna come too???????????? (I haven't had enough pain yet!!)

After all you accomplished this weekend, it's no wonder your legs are sore! A hot bath and some horse liniment ought to do the trick. And I'm with jenny. Let Toby do the cleaning.

Since it's almost Thanksgiving, I'll say this: I'm thankful that I don't have to MIL clean. She and I have a deal: don't look at my mess and I won't look at yours. LOL! She lives just 10 miles away, so may drop in at any time. But as long as the socks are legos are picked up, I don't worry about things too much.

Wow Lou! I just got caught up on reading the last two posts... you are amazing! I'm not surprised in the least that you two sold paintings... I've seen the talent that both of you have...Do you ever feel regret that you have to let a painting go? You work so hard on it, and it's sort of a part of you isn't it? The pics of the wedding are fabulous... and I'm glad that you took some time out from the kitchen to cut a rug or two... I know how you feel about the MIL cleaning... I get it every time my own mother comes over! Hope your feeling well rested after a bit although I'm sure there's not much that will keep you down for long!
Take care... a.

Fire Fox, Sometimes there will be a painting that I do not want to sell, but usually because the subject matter means something to me. Now and then I do a painting that just comes together easily and turns out just like I wanted it to - I hate to see those go. I sold my bull rider this fall and was a bit sorry. So I console myself with buying new art supplies :)

Jo, "bernin" is right! With Thanksgiving coming up, there will be little "down time" until later.

heh..in our house, it is not the M-I-L cleaning that is dreaded...it's the cleaning for the actual mother! ;)
