Short Time

One of the big things in the news this morning was the need to pass laws to make restaurant owners post calorie info on their menus – as if that will keep people from being overweight. Are people really so ignorant? Do they not know that a Big Mac has more calories than a salad? Is posting such information going to change things? It makes me think our whole education system has failed.

I kept the GGs on Friday. The Piper and the Royals joined us for fun on the farm. It was wild times at the Lazy B. Jesse went to Arkansas with friends to do some sewing for the friend’s future baby. Yes, Jesse can sew – she makes beautiful quilts and has made her father several Hawaiian style shirts. Her hope chest runneth over. Toby and I drove over to WF for some shopping. We dropped by my nephew’s soccer game. The weather was warm, but windy.

I always enjoy my time with just Toby. It seems more and more, we have lots of together time. It is a different season in our life. I like it. I like being able to travel and do whatever we want. But if I had my way, I would have my kids with me. I miss having Bo and Jes riding in the backseat sharing great moments in our life. Don’t get me wrong. I love it that Bo is married and has his own family. More than anything, I want that for Jesse, too. You know how I love my GGs. I am truly amazed when someone says that they cannot wait to send their children off to school or that they could never have homeschooled because they could not spend that much time with their children. To me, the time with my children was short. I am very thankful for that precious time. One of my biggest regrets in this life is that I did not have more kids. I may have to go rent one.
In this old photo, Jesse is 3 and Bo is 6 - that makes me about 27 and Toby 28.

Oh, no! Our education system is a resounding success! It has accomplished exactly what the government wanted it to. It has created a nation of people unable to think for themselves, and dependent on the government to make every decision for them.

Hey! My comment went missing! I was by this morning and remarked on what a good-lookin' family all y'all are... and the fact that, assuming I did the math right, there would have been a lot of similarities between y'all and the Pennington Family. I traded in the Blue-Suit for a Biz Suit about this same time and except for the ages of our children we're remarkably similar in appearance.

I wonder what happened to my comment? The mysteries of Blogger...

Ignorance and lack of morals .. that's us!

The wedding photos are great, and I hope spring brings you lots of good times.

I miss my kids, too, and they are much older. :)

Becky, I think you are right, although I don't think that was their intent. As schools became more socialized, they had to dumb down to keep everyone on the same level.

Sharon, the photo is a bit deceiving. My hair was dark, but never as dark as Jesse's. Jesse's hair has been dark since day 1, while I was a blonde like my son. The funny thing was that photo was taken when we lived in McAllen, TX, where my students often called me "blonde" only in Spanish.

Buck, I watched for you all day. I hate to say it, but I was disappointed that you had not been by to leave a comment. "Where is Buck" was my thought all day. I'm glad to know you really had been by, but a bit worried about my dependence on your comments.

Jo, I have no morals - I love a big greasy hamburger. If you are what you eat, then I am fast, easy, and cheap.

"rented child" = grandkid, right??
My mom asked me earlier this week "are you *ever* going to have any kids??" and I just...had...to sigh and say, I don't know, Ma. I mean, I *COULD* just go out and have a kid, reallll easy, but I don't think that's *quite* what she had in mind ;P
