Cat Names

Who is the baddest cat in all the land? He lives at my house, but he is nameless. Many names have passed our lips, but none have stuck – not like the cat sticks to your pants leg. Through the years I have had lots of kittens, but never one like this. He is an attack cat with an attitude. He is fearless. He is funny and entertaining, but he is a pest. The only time he is a sweet kitty is when he is asleep. The rest of the time he in attack mode searching for who or what he can pounce on. He seems to love people, but he has an odd way of showing his love – love bites. He loves Jack, the Red Heeler, but gives Ranger the Rat Terrier a wide berth. Ranger gave him a good shaking one day – it was humbling, but only for a short time. I’m not quite sure what to do with this kitten. Will he outgrow the attitude or someday will I have a full grown cat that terrorizes the household.

Here are the names we have tried; I thought El Diablo would be a perfect name. Jesse likes Jean-Claws van Damme. He could be called Jean-Claws or Damme Cat. Toby calls him Pesto. The Piper thought Hellcat was appropriate. GBN1 thought Fighting Biting Bad Cat was a good name. Fightie Bitie would work well. She called the other day and said that she had a new book about Dick and Jane. She said they have a cat named Puff, and she thought that we could call our kitten Puff. Hmm, I don’t think so. What do you think?

I like Jean-Claws. But then again, I am sort of a Francophile. (Yeah, I really do know that's a play on some actor's name. But you know how I feel about movies.)

Once upon a time (aka this is no sh!t, really!) I had a roomie who had a cat that stalked me all the time. It would creep across the back of the couch while I was reading, or nodding off, or otherwise occupied and take a swipe at me... drawing blood on my ear on at least two occasions. I hated that damned cat, but I was never quick enough to catch it and kill it before Roomie caught ME. A friend of mine was charged with feeding it when Roomie and I went off TDY one time (to separate places) simultaneously, and she did the job for me... but quite by accident. The stupid cat ran off into the North Dakota night and refused to come back. It froze to death as a result. Roomie swore up and down that Friend and I conspired to kill her cat, even though that wasn't true. I could never convince her otherwise. But the cat's untimely demise was certainly gratifying for some of us.

Your shaggy dog story for the day.

And what was wrong with yesterday's photo? Enquiring Minds (TM) wanna know!

Buck, nothing was wrong with your photo. Nothing at all :) I just wondered why you chose to post an old girl friend photo along with the comment about the black blob.

Buck, as to the cat story - I have had some cats that like to torture people - especially people who did not like cats. But this is even more than that. There is no petting or loving on this cat - it is fight and bite mode all the time. You wouldn't believe the number of times I have thrown or kicked the cat away from me only to have it come back for more. I carry a fly-swatter around with me for disciplinary actions.

How about Socks? It kind of reminds me of a certain former POTUS' cat.

Or maybe just Devil Cat. That works, too. I'm not too good with cat names. Most of ours were just named Kitty.

Well... I just thought it fit... the lava resembling The Blob and all. You'll note I said "the happy couple," and we were that, at the time. Until such time as she started in with the "Where is this going?" stuff, aka "I wanna get married." Too soon, as it were. That was when it was over. TMI, I'm sure, but you kinda-sorta asked. :D

Jean Claws VanHellcat...Jean Claws VanDammHellCat? I do like El Diablo...

You could see just how Hellcat he is and leave him outside one night...if you find dead coyotes the next morning you'll know.

Here's a link to chase...

we had a cat that color once, and my neighbors who left it with us named it "brother" which made our firstborn think thats what brothers look like. ha. he had no brothers at the time.

it looks like it is wearing a tux--or penquin suit. our yellow sallycat started attacking our ankles, so she was sent outside to kill something so that she comes back more mellow. She can run up a tree in nothing flat. And is leaving cat hair everywhere these days.

Joyce, This kitten will go outside as soon as it gets big enough to avoid the Great Dane and other predators.

Anny, I love killer cats like the ones we had in RR, but I don't want them to be killing me.
