Prepared

Toby got up early this morning and headed to the Duncan Dehydrator. I chose not to ride in this bike race – lots of reasons – too hot, too old, too sore, too bad, etc. Jesse was going to ride with Toby, but decided to go noodling instead. You heard me right; she is going noodling with friends. Actually, she is supposed to film some of her friends doing the noodling. No way would Jesse stick her hand in a catfish hole underwater. She likes adventure, but she does have a healthy amount of fear. Me, I’m sitting around the house today. Maybe I will eat some bonbons. The logistics of me going to town to see Toby off on his bike ride were just not feasible, and more of a hassle. I think he really did not want to have to worry about me, and just wanted to do his thang.
Yesterday I had to be in town to set up an art show and take art in – doing my thang. I killed an hour between the set up and the show by getting a pedicure, which was quite relaxing. The art show was in conjunction with the Crape Myrtle dinner and fundraiser. It was set up as a silent auction. One of the Painted Ladies, Barb, helped me with the show. We mingled and schmoozed the room. Then had a nice dinner. We tallied up the winners of the silent auction. As the evening came to a close we were bombarded with people coming to pay for their art. It was at that point that Barb and I realized we were not really prepared to take money. The Goat song in "Hoodwinked" came to mind, "An avalanche is coming and I am not prepared…" But the goat got it together and made it through the avalanche. Barb and I got it together and took money like we knew what we were doing. For a while there, we looked like deer caught in headlights with a mob of people waving credit cards.
I got home last night about 10 PM and told Toby how the evening went. We did manage to sell lots of artwork, which was surprising. I sold my little blue boat painting. When I got to the part about us not being prepared to take money, Toby laughed, shook his head and said, "Art people and money!" as if we are a bunch of ding-dongs. I guess I will have to drag along my accountant next time.

I can't remember the exact issue that had arisen, but I remember there being some type of number/money thing going on and you replying that you need not worry about it...that is why you had Toby. I do believe in couples having different talents...last week Erin went to Amarillo (with new cowboy boyfriend) "boot" shopping (yes you heard correct...weird huh? I don't think she can run very fast in cowboy boots) any way when the selection was made the boots had to be ordered...I made Erin give new boyfriend the phone so I could make sure he kept the boot payment receipt...my daughter with the 4.00 grade point can't keep up with anything that has to do with money or receipts...you see new-boyfriend is a finance major...interesting how things work. I wouldn't worry too much about the money taking...you do indeed "Have Toby"!!!

Had I known you were a free woman you could have come to my house and we would have laid in my pool thang, with a margarita!! Can't wait for the noodling story and shots!!

Noodling... something I haven't done, nor will I EVER do. I'm with Jesse: blindly sticking your hand in a hole in the river just doesn't sound like much fun.

Riding a bike in HOT Okie summer weather doesn't ring my bell, either, for that matter. I think you made some good decisions today, Lou. :D

I'm glad the art auction worked out well...

Down here, it's called hand grabbing. I've seen photos of some pretty good sized catfish caught that way.

Noodling=sticking hand in a hole underwater=one sick thing to do...

Oh my! When I read things like that I really know I am a total Yankee girl...

Buck,
You were suppose to notice! I posted a YouTube video like you taught me. Yeah, I posted a video the other day, but it was just a video from my camera. This time I was able to figure out how to do the YouTube! I need some praise here.

Kris,
Noodling is rather an Okie thang since it is illegal in most states, but not here.

Becky, "Noodling" sound so much more fun!

Diva,
Her stories are not so much about the noodling as they are about one old man who was suppose to noodle. Jesse said he was fascinating with the grossest stories ever told.

Great story/stories. My brothers used to get in the Rio Grande south of Socorro, NM, and muddy the water and catch catfish. My mom always worried they would get in a whirlpool... Similar to noodling maybe??

I had not read your blog for ages. I can't imagine that. I have missed much and missed you!

Your art auction sounded fun and interesting to say the least. Ha.

Glad to be back in the loop.

Jo,
I bet your NM catfishing is similar to noodling. Snakes, beaver, and gar fish are the big worries when noodling since the noodlers stick their hands into catfish holes underwater.

Well, I DID notice. But I thought you might take minor offense if gushed with the "Good On Ya!" stuff. I was wrong... forgive me! :D

And GOOD ON YA!
