Happy 2010

We delivered Toby’s mom safely home to Lubbock and got back last night. We stopped in WF on our way and had lunch with my mom wishing her a happy 78th birthday. She was full of stories of her and Jesse’s Christmas trip to RR. She said that they had lots of fun (see photos at Jesse’s blog). Jesse was a big help with the group – fixing breakfast, doing dishes, loading the car, herding people, playing with the babies, playing games and making everyone laugh. Mom said that everyone thought she was "the cutest thang."

I told Jesse that my New Year’s resolution was to get her a husband. Jesse asked how I planned on doing that. I answered, "Put an ad in the paper." Toby added, "Billboards, drawings, raffle…" My friend, Bear, added, "Church bulletin."

Actually, I do have some more resolutions, promises, wishes, etc. I have been making a list.
For some reason, I really like the idea of New Year’s resolution – probably because it feels like a new beginning. I don’t normally reflect on the bad, but I do like to think about how to make things better – what I want to change and improve. Years ago, I read a book by Barbara Johnson who had a "joy ministry" where she mentioned celebrating the beginning of each month – new beginnings are just good. Here are some of my resolutions: I want to do more pastels this year; maybe more oils and acrylics, too. I’ve been thinking about restarting my "Painting of the week," or possibly doing a "Portrait of the Week" (which might only be a sketch) since I want to do more portraits or people paintings. I have thought about doing a children’s storybook – something I have always wanted to do. I want to work on my soldier’s paintings and possibly do a small showing of those art paintings. There are always the more personal goals including weight loss, more Bible reading, better house cleaning, more time with the GGs, and wearing better underwear. Okay, that last one may be a little too personal for some, but it has to do with aging. I don’t want to be one of those ladies who wear granny panties just because they old and plump and cheap. All women should pamper themselves with nice underwear – it makes a girl feel pretty and young and maybe a bit mysterious since only they know, and well, maybe now the entire blog world.

I have some more serious thought on resolutions, wishes, desires, etc, but I may save them for another post.
Here are a couple of photos from last New Year's when Jesse and I were in San Antonio. That was a great trip - great way to start the year. May you all have a great start to your year - Happy New Year to you all and may you keep your resolutions. May you be blessed in 2010.

Ahhh... New Year's resolutions. Good on ya for having a few and good luck with 'em... they all seem worthy.

I have one: I resolve to not procrastinate as much. I'll get started on that tomorrow... or maybe Monday. It IS the weekend and there are these bowl games...

Happy New Year!

Buck,
Notice that I did not mention procrastination in my resolutions - one of my biggest faults. But I work well under pressure.

Bob wants to know if you are old, plump and cheap, what is the problem with wearing underpants to match??

Joyce, tell Bob that it is all part of the mystery.

Hi Lou -- HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and your family. I liked the plan for advertising for a husband for Jesse - LOL. And I thought I was the only one who actually made New Year's resolutions and really tried to keep them. I agree with you on the underwear -- we're sexy women still and we deserve to pamper ourselves. Looking forward to a new year of getting to know you better through your blog posts!

Going now to take a look at the pictures of Jesse's Christmas trip. I love Red River! Was it really hard for you not to be there with them?
