Lubbock and Back

If you were thinking that I might have fallen off the face of the earth, you would be close. We went to Lubbock. Driving out across the Llano Estacado, you would think the earth is definitely flat and any minute, you could go over the edge. Friday night, Toby, Jesse, and I decided that it would be a good weekend to go to Lubbock to see Toby’s mom. Bo, Sara, and the GGs decided to follow us out. It was wild times on the High Plains. Saturday night we had dinner with some cousin’s and aunts that we had not seen in years. Oh wait, make that cousin whom we had never met. They were okay. Chances are, it will be years before we see them again. It is just the way it happens.

Sunday morning we drove to Levelland to have breakfast with Bear and Anny. Sandra and Rudi happened to be there too – people we have known forever. Sunday was my 33rd wedding anniversary. Rudi was one of our ushers. Sandra had just started dating Rudi at that time. Bear and Anny were not at my wedding, but they, too, had just started dating. A year later, I would be at B&A’s wedding, but two years later, I would miss S&R’s wedding since Bo was to be born any day. It is always good to see old friends and talk old times. It is also good to catch up on what is happening in their lives now that we live so far apart.

I taught GBN2 to call Bear, "Papa Bear," which just melted his big ol’ heart. But then Bear has always had a soft spot for little girls – especially ones who were not afraid of him. He is a bear – ya’ know! This pic was made at the Alpine in RR when Jesse was two years old. Here is Bear with GBN2. Some things never change.
I have more pics, but I have a busy day today, and this is all I can get done right now. Later.

That's Jesse in that first pic? Ya coulda fooled me if'n you'd said that was GBN1! Srsly.

And one DOES fall off the face o' the earth when one steps down from the Llano Estacado. It's one helluva drop, in many more ways than one.

Anny, I don't mind sharing until he gets one.

Buck, there are things about Jesse and her nieces that look much alike, but I usually think the similarities are more with GBN2.
