Julie & Julia & Comments

I’ve mentioned a couple of times now that we watched the movie Julie & Julia. It is not that I liked the move so much, although it was okay. Toby and Jesse were most impressed with the cooking, but I liked the part about her starting her own blog and keeping it up for a year focusing on one subject – cooking Julia Child’s recipes every day for a year. Of course, she gets a book deal and movie out of the blog – neither of which is my dream, but it would be nice. I think it was the challenge of doing something every day that impressed me. There are lots of artists out there who do a painting a day and blog about it. I was only able to do a painting a week, but I kept it up for a year and a half. It was good for me. I need a challenge now and then. I work very well under pressure. That is another thing having Jesse around does for me – keeps the pressure on to do more and do better - makes me accountable. We are a competitive family.

There is a scene in the movie where Julie gets her first comment and she is so excited. But then she realizes the comment was from her mom and "that doesn’t count." Jesse’s reaction to that scene, "I know how she feels." As most of us know, comments can be so encouraging. So, Jesse posted another photo on her blog and this time she actually wrote a bit. Drop by and leave her a comment if you would. Does it count if her mother made you do it?

You get half-credit. ;-)

I'm afraid I'm terribly guilty about not leaving comments. I read blogs through Google reader and it's gotten too easy to just be lazy and not click on through to the blog. I do read Jessie's blog, and will head on over and leave a comment.

Becky, You are always great about leaving comments, and I thank you.

Buck, "Your mom sent me" Are you trying to get me in trouble?
