Life in the Pines

When I was a little girl I would sing this song and think about heading to Red River, which was about 500 miles. Of course, I thought of RR as home. Tomorrow morning I will be headed to RR. My friend, Joy, is meeting me in WF, and together we will drive to RR for a girl's weekend. We will be staying with our other longtime friend, Kathy. I feel like it has been a while since I have been home. Being with Joy and Kathy is like being with family. We will be staying at Kathy's family cabin - one of the oldest cabins in the Valley of the Pines. We spent lots of nights in that cabin in the bunk room. I remember many a day we rode Kathy's horses up and down the valley. We chased Johnny Mutz' cattle and got in lots of trouble. This will be like old home week. It has been a year ago April that I was in RR with Joy and Kathy at Janetta's funeral. This may be a bit sad without Janetta. But we will tell some Janetta stories and share lots of good memories - like the time we went golfing in Angel Fire. Did we really golf?

I am so ready for this. Hopefully, I will be able to post from the mountains. See ya on the dance floor.
