It was a working weekend. The last few weekends have been rather unproductive as far as working on the house goes. That doesn't mean we have not been busy. We have been doing lots of thangs, but we have not done much work on the house. This weekend, though, we focused on the house again. There are lots of little things still to be done - the never ending house project.
Friday night we had to go to choir practice. Did I say that like it was drudgery? It was not, but yet it was not what I wanted to be doing. The over-fifty group that we are singing with is lots of fun - a bit like being with a bunch of 7th graders. There is lots of laughing and good natured teasing. But, standing around for a couple of hours singing the same song over and over gets old. What I really wanted to be doing was sitting in my big chair with my feet propped up playing with my new Kindle. Everybody was suppose to bring a snack/finger-food type dish for after choir. But after choir lots of other people showed up, which I thought was odd. Then I remembered we were suppose to celebrate the choir director's birthday. Turns out there was a bit of a surprise - they were there to celebrate all the March birthdays - mine included. That was nice. I got lots of cards and a few little presents. The downside was not all those people brought food. I hadn't had supper thinking that we would eat after choir. I guess everyone was on a diet, because what little food that was there was veggies and fruit stuff, except for my 7 layer dip and chips. No wonder I was grumpy. We didn't get home until after 10 PM. I really did have fun, but it was not what I had in mind. Expectations.
Saturday morning Toby had to go into work for a bit. But when he came home, we hit it hard. We did trim work and moved furniture from one room to the other. Once we get things out of the old part of the house, we need to do trim work there, too. I felt really good about what all we got done on Saturday, and I got to sit around with my Kindle Saturday night. That's the ticket!
Sunday was pretty typical. After church and lunch, we did some more trim work on the house. Then we went to GBN1's 8th birthday party. Wow, my grand-girl is getting so big! Her other grandmother had a made a DVD of videos of the GGs through the years. The GGs have grown so much - it was really a cool idea to put all the videos on one DVD. The other grandmother is good that way - much more organized than I. This party was lots of fun. GBN1 showed lots of enthusiasm for all her gifts. She and her sister also showed us how they could in-line skate - presents that they had gotten earlier. My son had made enchiladas and had done a fine job with them - takes after his mother. My DIL made a beautiful, tasty cake. And I forgot my camera.
This morning my weight is up four pounds. Four! Dang it. On Saturday night while driving to the party, Toby and I had decided to weigh together and start a new diet. I hated to tell him my weight, and then I really hated saying I was up even more. I'm tellin' ya, this short and fat business is the pits. You would think that working like a sled dog on Saturday would compensate for the enchiladas on Sunday, but no. So, Toby and I are going to get serious about our diet and exercise. Dang it.

Wow! It's hard to believe she is 8 already! They grow so fast, don't they?
I've decided to get serious about my diet again, too...until I made that cake yesterday. Oops.
AirmanMom,
Obviously I'm not that busy or I would be thinner.
Becky,
You should have seen the video - kids grow so fast.
