This is from a photo of my hollyhocks. I was going for a looser look. My friend, Barb, read some art article that said you need thousands of hours of brush time. So when we paint and things don't turn out as expected, she says, "Well, it was brush time."

What does "looser look" mean? That's a serious question...
As for me, I have thousands of hours of beer time. That tends to make me fairly loose. ;-)
I told Toby I should have had a glass of wine before I painted - to loosen me up. Loose is more Impressionistic as opposed to a tight painting, which would be more detailed and realistic.
I'll have to put brush time with beer time next time.
I love the flowers! I guess you would call me a tight artist, because I strive for photorealistic drawings-- when I do draw. Which is rare these days.
Most people are tight, but try being looser - it is actually more difficult.
