Weekend Report - Achilles Heel

Sometimes I have these great thoughts as to blog posts, but I rarely have those thoughts when I sit down at the computer. The mind goes blank.  I guess I will have to start jotting down my thoughts or get a smart phone.
This last week was pretty busy anyway.  Thursday I worked on a different chair.  This one is one I picked up last year at a junk store while junking with the Diva.  I cleaned and sanded and painted it Thursday.  It needs another coat of paint and then maybe some funky Mexican flowers.  We will see.  Thursday night I went to the Gabriel House (an after school daycare) fund raiser, since I had donated a painting.  Jesse donated some pottery.  She usually presents the auction stuff, but not this year, since she is living in The City.Pic from last year. My painting (the mountains painting posted last week) only did mediocre ($175), but it was a donation so what can I say - $175 is still good money.  Some of the children's paintings from the GH sell for two or three times what mine sold for.  It has become prestigious to have kid's GH art in your office - shows your civic mindedness.

Friday I went with my DIL and GGs to OKC to get GBN1's leg braces.  She has walked on her tip-toes since she started walking - so much so that it has caused leg problems.  She now goes to therapy and has plastic braces that help her to walk heel-toe and stretches her Achilles tendon.  We had a good day in The City - I learned to play Angry Birds on my Kindle Fire.

On Saturday, I spent the day with the Diva.  She, too, has had Achilles problems.  About a month ago, she tripped over the vacuum cleaner which someone left in the doorway.  Her fall resulted in a torn or broken Achilles tendon.  Last week she had surgery to reconnect the tendon.  It was a simple surgery, but will have a long recovery time.  She gets around pretty well on a knee scooter, but I stayed with her while her husband and mine went to an auction.  I didn't really have to stay with her; it was just a fun day of lounging around and visiting with the Diva. We did start a watercolor, but it is not ready to be shown.

Sunday was a pretty relaxing day.  The GGs came by for a bit after church - chased cats and chickens.  Jesse was busy all weekend.  Well, I say busy, but she actually went to a Rangers game.  I was so jealous.  Toby said he would take me for our anniversary, but we will see. It sure is hot outside to go to a baseball game.

Today I am babysitting GBN1, and tomorrow I babysit both GGs.  Wed is my anniversary - old photos will be displayed by then.

Zoe Dog had a pretty good week, but by Sunday she was not putting any weight on her leg.  It hurts me to see her hurt.  Double dang.

You had yer usual busy weekend! It makes me tired just reading about it. (Somewhat envious, too.)

I think 175 Yankee Dollars is a pretty respectable price. Good on ya.

And yeah: it IS too hot to go to a ball game in Dallas, unless they have one of those retractable roof thangs like they do in Houston.

Ya know, Buck, it doesn't seem so busy when ya take one thang at a time. With Jesse gone most of the weekend, it actually seems pretty quiet.

Then temps have gone into the triple digits here - makes anything miserable.

Glad your painting sold for good money. Charity shows always do better for the kids. The chair is looking great!
