Happy 4th
Here's to a Happy 4th of July! I thought this old pic of Jesse as the Red River Rodeo Queen was very patriotic with the flag waving behind her and her red, white, and blue shirt. If you are wondering about presenting the colors at a rodeo, well there is this photo. That is Tanya Lewis on the palomino with the American flag. That is my son, Bo, on the buckskin with the NM flag. They both came galloping into the arena, separated, and rode down each side to cross at the other end, and then rode back to the middle to present the flags. They did this at breakneck speed. It always took my breath away - not because it was so patriotic, but because it scared the heck out of me when they crossed. I once asked Bo if he and Tanya planned on who would ride to the inside and who would ride to the outside when they crossed. He told me, "Nope. No plan." But it was an awesome sight.

Great photos and stories. Makes me homesick. All the stories are keeping me happy-weepy this morning. Happy Fourth!
Awesome pics.
You made me think about my first rodeo (heh), which was up in Plentywood, Montana (where I lived for a bit while stationed at Fortuna AFS in NoDak). Given we were on the US-Canada border we had lots of Canadians participating in the rodeos and the presentation of the flags was quite spectacular, what with the US, Canadian, state, and provincial flags all bein' carried in to the arena. That really took your breath away. Thanks for remindin' me o' that!
Have a safe and happy Fourth!
I can relate to happy-weepy. Hope your 4th was great!
Those Canadians know how to do a good rodeo. Some day I want to see the Stampede in Calgary.
Great photos! Hope you had a happy 4th.
Thanks Becky, it was a good 4th.
I happened upon your blog today, and just wanted to say I enjoyed a glimpse at your world for many pages. What a nice family, and an entertaining read. Your families get up and go is way more than mine (as I awaken from my mandatory nap).
Thanks Stefan, stop by anytime.
Great pics and memories! Hope your day was grand!
I know we'd welcome you with open arms. Too bad you aren't here for the 100th anniversary this year, it's truly a big 'un.
