My friend, Barb from the Painted Ladies, came over yesterday, and we painted. She had two very nice paintings that she had started at home, but both needed some work. I may not be a great artist, but I am a great critic. Isn't that always the way it is? She was ready to trash one of the paintings, but I really liked it. It just needed tweaking. I talked her into working on it, and she did an amazing job. Sorry, I did not take a photo of her work, but I was pretty pleased that she finished the piece.
As for my painting, I did a simple little watercolor of Dale's grandsons. You may remember my Summer Art 3 of the little girl playing softball. Well, that was one of Dale's grand-girls. He wanted me to do some more pics of his grand-babies, and he does have some cute ones. Sometimes when someone asks me to do a particular painting - like a commission - it takes me a while because it was not my idea - not my inspiration. But Dale sent some pretty good photos with good light making it much easier. It is also easier to do commission work when you don't have to paint a portrait - a face - that everyone expect you to make look just like the person. Then everyone is a critic for sure. I can paint the back of people and make them look just like the person :)
I'm headed to WF today with my GGs for a bit of back-to-school shopping. But first I have to throw on some clothes and go look for the trash can that blew out of Toby's truck when he went to work this morning. A ranch hand's job is never done.

It's nice to know constructive criticism works... sometimes. (That was in reference to Barb's painting.)
I like today's watercolor, too.
I almost said that I was a good teacher rather than critic. But it does take being a good critic to get someone to do more rather than give up or get mad or both.
Thanks, on the watercolor.
I love this time of year in terms of getting ready to go back to school. I cannot wait until it's time for Jackson to begin preschool! I'm thinking about starting some Montessori activities this fall with him...what do you think?
I think Jack would do well with Montessori at this age.
Are those Dallas and Landry? Great painting as always.
Thanks, Becky. I don't know for sure about names or whose boys are whose.
Ok I'm back! I saw the painting so I had to comment!! Lou you did as awesome job with the painting of Ryanne playing t-ball and yes Becky the is Dallas and Landry Dale. I was so taken back by Lou's painting of Ryanne, I flooded her with a few more that she might like to do too. I posted on my facebook page the work she had done, absolutely amazing!! Thank you again Lou Lou!!
