Weekend Report - A Bit Freaked

Life at the Lazy B has not been very exciting lately - hence the few posts.  It has been rather warm, but yesterday it clouded up toward evening and was fairly pleasant.  Toby and I went for an evening bicycle ride.  Close to home, Toby was way out in front of me (as usual) when he hollered something.  Being old and deaf, I did not understand him.  Being lazy, I did not try to figure out what he said or holler at him to holler again.  It all seemed pointless.  It was then that I nearly ran over the snake on the road.  Yuck!  It did not freak me out like I thought it would. I didn't leap or fall off my bike or anything. Now, if I had actually hit it with my bike, I probably would have had a heart attack.

We made it home safely, and I played games and read on my Kindle Fire until time to go to bed.  Jesse got a smart phone this weekend and started playing Words with Friends.  I had to join her - like I need another phone/computer/Kindle addiction.  I do want to start a drawing game with Jo, though.  It all makes me feel so techie.

It was about midnight that all the excitement started.  Toby and I were awakened from a dead sleep by an odd noise.  Before I could figure out what it was, Toby jumped out of bed and yelled twice.  I thought maybe he had leg cramps from the bicycle ride.  But when I asked him what the problem was, he yelled, "I don't know!" So I jumped out of bed too.  For some reason the earlier snake on the road came to mind (you know how the brain works when still half asleep).  I turned on the light and threw back the bed covers to discover a scorpion in our bed.  It had stung Toby twice - once on the finger and once on the chest.  Grabbing a shoe, I managed to kill the scorpion.  Then I went to check on Toby.  He was some upset!  All I could think to do was make a paste with baking soda and smear it on Toby. It was helpful. Then I made an ice-pack to take away the burn and reduce swelling.

When the excitement died down, all we could figure out was that the dog was trying to kill (or something) the scorpion and made the noise that woke us.  How the scorpion got on Toby is the question. Toby thinks the dog slung it up on the bed.  I think the scorpion was on the bed trying to get away from the dog.   It must have been on his chest when he touched it with his hand, and then it stung him twice.  I am glad I jumped out of bed and turned on the light or it might have gotten me too.  It so totally freaks me out to think about it.  I had a difficult time sleeping after it was all said and done.  Yuck!

I didn't know about the scorpion story.

A scorpion in my bed would freak me right-the-hell out too!

I think I am a pretty good country girl, then the creepy crawly things put me in my place.

You know how he sounds when he is hurt and he yells? Well, that is what he did last night. I thought he had a leg cramp.

Yep, that would freak me out, too. I do not like bugs in my bed at all!

Bugs are bad, and spiders and scorpions are the worst. But it wasn't a snake - something to be thankful for.

Forgot to say Iwe will have fun with Draw Something. A bit addictive, but you have to wait your turn, so can't spend too much time on it.
