Rules for the Farm

Since the Junk Diva has been laid up for the summer and Jesse got a new phone and my son got a Kindle Fire, I have been playing lots of Words with Friends.  For those who don't know, WwF is type of Scrabble game played online with others.  The Diva beats my socks off every time we play.  Sometimes she toys with me and lets me get ahead (Toby says she must be on her pain meds), but then she plays a Q on a tripple letter or something.  Dang, that woman!  She also plays lots of words that she nor I have ever heard of - so we made a rule that when you use a word like that, you have to use it in a sentence in the comment section.  The other day, she scored lots of points with two words, KUNE and KORE!  I told her she had to use them in a sentence.  She wrote back with this: My dawg treed a KUNE.  You is rotten to the KORE.  Thanks Diva!

I've also been playing Draw Something with several people.  It is kind of a silly drawing game similar to Pictionary.  The really cool part is that you can see the other person's drawing as it unfolds - it sort of comes alive in front of your eyes.  The hard part is trying to think like the other person.  Jesse and I found that we think very much alike and draw alike too - kind of a scary thing for her.  Lindz and her mother, Janice, are very different from Jes and I.  Sometimes I struggle with their drawings - not that they draw poorly, but I just can't figure their thought process or unscramble the word.  Last night I had to call Janice or give up.  Janice drew a basketball game and spectators, but the word was only three letters.  It looked like a basketball arena.  Turns out it was GYM, but my brain was just not there.  Maybe I should not play after 9:30 PM when I am worn out. Anyway, I am loving these games.  Like I need something else to take up my time.

Other farm news: When I stepped outside yesterday morning there was an awful stench - like something had died.  Then I saw the dead rat - not a mouse, but a huge dead rat.  What the heck!  Why didn't Toby see it - we have a rule that the one who sees such stuff first has to deal with it.  I chose to deal with it later - a mistake.  When I came  home from running errands, the rat was even stinkier.  I put the thang in a plastic bag and then in a plastic container and then in the trash while avoiding the need to throw-up.  When Toby came home, it was still stinkin' to high heaven.  He carted it off.  Thanks, dear; I love you.

Later while he was out doin' other farm thangs, he saw the neighbor.  I should tell you that when we bought this property and built our house, we put the house in the middle of the property where we thought no one would build close to us - no close neighbors.  But then our fairly close neighbor sold off the back part of his property (behind and to the north of us).  If we had known he was selling it, we would have bought it.  Instead a young couple bought it and put a double-wide right behind us.  Then they put a huge security light up that shines in our bedroom windows.  Why people need a light after they go to bed is beyond me.  But then the young couple sold their place to another couple.  These people are city folk who wanna be cowboys.  They built a barn for their horses as if the shed was not good enough.  Then they put a light on the barn that shines directly into our bedrooms as if the original spotlight was not good enough.  Yesterday, Toby asked the neighbor if he could turn the barn light off at night.  The neighbor said he could not - that his horses needed to see at night.  Really?! Stupid city folk should live in the city if they like lights so much. There, I needed to get that off my chest.

School will be starting up soon. I have been getting ready for my tuttoree, and I am excited to be teaching again.  I need to do some art today too.  If you think I have not been doing art, I have.  I threw two pots today.  Maybe I can remember to take pics of my pots when I trim them this afternoon. So, off I go.

About them security lights... I was amazed that all my neighbors had those things when I lived out in the country near Choctaw. I had one too, but I had the power company disconnect it a month or so after I moved in. That saved me a few dollars every month and let me enjoy the dark. Or at least as much as I could, given the neighbor's security light. Those thangs are BRIGHT (not that I need to tell ya).

We had one on our first place here in OK, but it was a motion-detector and could be turned off at the bottom of the pole. It was handy for when we pulled into the driveway at night, but then it went off.

Wesley has a solution for security lights - bb gun - just ask Grandpa who used to have one that shined in Wesley's bedroom window.

I used to play both of those games, but I get bored with things like that pretty quickly. I think Draw Something would be more fun if I had a Kindle Fire or iPad, but playing on my phone screen was just too tiny.

Don't think that I haven't already considered that.

My Kindle is very nice for playing compared to Jesse's phone.

I know a guy from Loco who can make problems (like your neighbor's light) 'go away'.

Hmm, I know that guy...

We'll plant some trees and water them real well. Maybe get some fancy wood blinds...
