An Evil World

I'd like to break from our regularly scheduled program to talk about the recent killing in Duncan that has made national news. The people of Duncan are horrified and saddened by this useless murder of an innocent young man. Normally, Duncan is a a quiet little town with very few problems - a good place to raise your kids. But we do live in an evil world with godless people. Evil happens everywhere. We are just shocked when it happens so close to us. It is the reaction to such evil that seems to say more about Duncan than the actual murder.

When the three young boys decided to take a life, they did not realize how many lives they were actually taking - their own lives as well as all families involved. My heart goes out to the family and friends of Christopher Lane.  In a different way, my heart is sad for the the families of the young killers. And my heart is sad for all of Duncan - for the fear and the hate that it has caused. Hopefully, those who have love will overcome.

Last year a young 16 year old girl was murdered in Velma - another senseless killing.  She was at the wrong place at the wrong time. Earlier this summer another young teen girl was killed by an ex-boyfriend. Do not think that evil cannot happen in our town. Evil is evil anywhere. Be aware. Be alert. But live your life in fear of God, not man. I don't know what else to say or do.  Sometimes I think that the "it can't happen here" or the "my child would never..." are two of our biggest problems.

I believe you have the right attitude, and it is hard to resist my animal instincts to a solution. We are blessed to know love, and our faith feeds our spirit. May your family always remain safe.

It can be an evil world, indeed. I read your linked article and I am well and truly appalled. I'm also armed, so there's that.

Being armed is a good thang. These boys did not confront their target; they shot him in the back. Crazy chicken-caca.

That's why we need to be vigilant at all times. There are really places which are not really safe to stay even if you are a native of that place.. Good thing in my years of going back and fro to Hacienda De Mita - punta mita vacation rentals ,I haven't encountered an incident like this.. I feel sorry for the victim.I hope justice will be serve.
