A Bad Mistake

The good thing about being in a drought is that you don't have to mow the lawn very much. This summer we have mowed the lawn more times than the last two summers put together, and yet, it still has not been much. For the last several weeks, we have needed to mow thanks to a bit of rain earlier in Sept. When you live in the middle of a hay pasture, you get odd grass growing around the house.  It is not a pristine neighborhood yard, but tufts of blue-stem and Johnson grass grow long throughout the shorter Bermuda grass.  Yesterday was such a fine day with the temps in the 80's and just a breeze rather than gusts, I decided to mow the lawn. It was a big mistake, and now I am paying for it. My allergies hit me full force. It started with repetitive large sneezes. My throat started itching and closing up. My eyes watered and itched. Then my sinuses swelled shut. Bad joojoo! I was done for the rest of the day and evening. We went to church (still have the guest preacher) but I was miserable. I took drugs, which helped, but still felt like my head would explode. Fortunately, the drugs opened up one nostril and knocked me out for the night. This morning I am better, but my head is still large and eyes are swollen. Did I mention that my nose is red and raw from all the wiping and blowing? Then, I bent over to pick something up and the floor moved. I see more drugs in my future. I cancelled going to exercise class (any excuse will do) this morning, although I am pretty sure I will be good after a Sudafed. In fact, I'm much better now that I am not going to exercise :)

For those of you who do not FB, here is a drawing that Jesse posted with this caption: I am suppose to be writing a paper.

Oh that sounds awful Lou! (I am worried about the floor moving part- indicative of something serious?)... No more mowing without a gas mask for you! I saw Jesse's pic on FB earlier this morning... absolutely fabulous..

The floor moving means my sinus are messed up and causing my ears/balance to be off. Not too badly, but a bit.

Hmm, Sudafed, I think you can buy an AK-47 easier. I told my doctor I bought some and she had a fit. Having high blood pressure she says those are never going to be on my list, unless I want her to help with the autopsy :-)

That's a great drawing by the way. Is that a possum? If it is I'm hungry! (just kidding, I was thinking of the Beverly Hillbillies). My caption would be: "Texas is no place to travel unless you can find someone else to Steer"...

Sorry about your allergy attack... NOT good. But, Hey! You got out of exercise class.

That's a rather whimsical drawing, innit? But a GOOD drawing.

Whimsical is such a great word.

I hate to hear about the allergies. Mine are better here than NM which is weird. Guess I am more sensitive to dust and tumbleweeds!

I love the drawing. Go Jesse!
