Incentive

My incentive has been lacking this winter. It could be the cold. I am so ready for better weather. In the meantime, I mentioned my lack of incentive to my friend Jo, and she sent me a little pick-me-up package. It got here yesterday during my art class with the little girls. I waited until they left to open my package - some things are just more special when you take time for yourself.
And the package was special. And it did bring a smile to my face. Some girls would prefer chocolates or flowers or jewelry as gifts, but me (and probably Jo, too) prefer art supplies. There is just something about a blank sheet of art paper that makes me excited. I have not tried the Koi watercolors, but the little to-go box is great. I can't wait to try it out. Thanks, Jo, you knew just what would make me happy and give me incentive. But the truth is, one of the best incentives is the art apron you gave me last September. I put it in the photo just to show. When I put that apron on, I feel like an artists - like I mean business. When I am serious about my art, I put on the apron. It reminds me of you and the fun we had at the art workshop. It is great incentive. Still, I love the new watercolor and paper.

When Jesse was about nine year old, we went shopping in Sante Fe at the mall with a good friend. Jesse continuously begged  and begged me to buy her some little white gloves - like for church. Eventually I gave in and bought a pair of lacy white gloves for her. Jesse opened the package of gloves while we were shopping. She put them on and stretched out her little fingers and said, "Now I can steal something." It sent my friend into peals of laughter. It was so Jesse. But I know how she feels. It is kind of the way I feel about my new art stuff. Now I can paint something!

I got a paint set today! A pack of four brushes, some sandpaper, a scraper, and 5 gallons of external white. I will now spend the next 3 months painting the trim and replacing the gutters. I also have some woodwork where the last 20 years of sun has pretty much destroyed my bay window. I say 3 months, cause I-be-sloooow...

Mmmmm. Lou is thoughtful, too. The kit suits her 'cause I got a beautiful thank you by snail mail. I do love cactus pears. :) Thanks, Lou. Gene likes it, too.
