Merry Christmas

Although I have been painting my little Christmas cards, none are very good this year. I don't feel great about any of them. They are all just "okay." But while working on cards, I tried doing a watercolor portrait. Most of you know that I love portraits, but I have not mastered the watercolor portrait. Earlier this fall, I did one of Abigail that l liked pretty well. I framed it and put it in a little show. About a year ago, I did a little portrait of a friend's grandbaby. It turned out okay, but not exciting. While looking through my photos-to-paint-from, I found the grandbaby picture again. It still intrigues me, so I painted it again. This time I was more pleased with my efforts. It could make a nice Christmas card, but I'm a little late for that. Maybe a New Year's card.
Tomorrow we will have our annual Christmas Eve party and talent show. None of us have any great talent, but it is a fun time. Christmas Day will be spent with different family members. May all of you have a great Christmas!

Thanks John. It is nice to know you are still checking in on me. My longtime blogger buddy, Buck, died last week. Makes me very sad.

Good Lord Lou, I had no idea. Although I never met Buck, I enjoyed his commentary and your interaction with him. I'm sorry for your loss. Susie lost her Mom Nov. 22nd, so losing a loved one or a dear friend is so hard. Speaking of that, I think of your Dad so often. I sure do miss seeing him. Take care and be thankful for everything you have this Christmas Lou. I know I'm so blessed with Susie and Lil' John.

I have to say the shading is very good, but the eye on the right (the owners left eye) is off enough that it disturbs me. I would definately take them to the doctor :-) OK, but in the spirit of the constructive, I would draw a straight line through the eyes, and a straight line through the middle of the nose and mouth, and see if it is a 90 degree result. To me, the eye on the right is up and out. I like both eyes, but maybe the eye on the left more because it is more child-like, or baby Doe, hee.

The eyes have been bothering me too. One is more rounded.

Hope the Christmas went well and your new year is super. I LOVE my replacement painting. You did a beautiful painting for my "card". Thank you, thank you. Many hugs.

Jo, Christmas went well. I'm ready for the whole holiday season to be over and to get back to normal - whatever that is.

Buck's death took me by surprise and makes me sad. I don't know what else to say. He will be missed.
