Student Art Work

Yesterday, the principal came into my class to observe my teaching techniques. You know, those presentation skills -  demonstrating with some cajoling, along with some slapstick thrown in for good measure.  It all went fairly well, if you like the crazy old lady technique. Anyway, I was not worried about my teaching ability. Nor was I worried about the Prince's views of my teaching. After all, this is not exactly a career move for me. I have never been a fan of the dog-and- pony show specifically for the Prince. I just did my thang. And yet, on some mental level, I guess it was nerve racking. When all is said and done, I thought, " Gee, that went rather pitifully." Oh well.

I do have this one student that is such a great artist, she does not need me much. I just direct her a bit and she flies. Here are some of her works:
Most are watercolor, which is new to her, but she loves it.
This one is a pastel - her first!
  This one is my zentangle.

Wow, she is a great artist. I like the pastel and the windows. Doors and windows a favorite of mine anyway.

I love your pentangle. They are so much fun and relaxing.

Teach on……...

I changed pentangle to zentangle about four times. Finally took it here! Autocorrect……mmmm.

Jo,
This student is pretty special. She is a beautiful Hispanic girl who has it all together.

I like the Japanese (?) gal - maybe because I lived in Japan for 3 years.

CTT,
I'm not in to that sort of art myself, but this student really likes that culture and is painting lots of Asian art. My daughter told me not to say "Oriental" - that it was not PC. Whatever.

Wow! I'm so glad you're getting such wonderful student performance!!

Moogie, I wish I got that kind of performance from my students. This is the work of one special kid. The others, well, it depends on the day.

Yes, sadly oriental (from French orientale) went out with Westerner.

Yes, orientale means Easterner in Anglais.

But white people used it just like "negro."

Well, those are beautiful words, it's just that after 1964 with a dead President and all, everything got serious.

Words are bullets now. Kids need safe-zones :-)
