The weather has finally turned a bit chilly. Although we have been sleeping with the windows open, the daytime temps had been getting into the 80's making it just a bit uncomfortable during the day without the air conditioner. Yesterday, the temps only got up to the high 60's maybe 70 and was overcast making it seem cooler - not exactly jacket weather, but it was amazing how many people at church were wearing jackets. Our weekend is suppose to be perfect - cool temps and sunny.
I spent most of yesterday painting. I actually painted the portrait of GBN1 twice more. Here is the latest side by side with yesterday's painting to make it easier to compare. Notice that I have not put in a background color, and I may not. I think the "little girl" look is better, but the painting turned out bigger than I had meant for it to be (the upcoming show is a miniature show). Today is art with the big girls, and I will paint some more.

Wow! Looking at them side by side there is a huge difference. IF you are going for the look of GBN1, then the 2nd picture is much closer. The hair is much closer to her fine, whispy hair. I never noticed how frightened or unsure the little girl looked in the first painting. In the 2nd painting the little girl is happier, which GBN1 was certainly happen with her conquest of catching the cat. LOL The cheeks still aren't as cherub-looking as GBN1, but I think over-all it definitely looks more like her. And...I really like the total picture better without the background color. Now for the cat, it looks like it was fed well between painting #1 and painting #2. (couldn't resist that comment) Other than that, put it in a black frame and it will look really nice in my house!! (giggle)
I just love it!
Love the second one. The proportions seem more accurate to me.
Thanks Becky and Laurie! Still, there is something about the first painting that I did - maybe the wildness of the little girl...But everyone in my house likes the second painting.
yep, I like the second paint better than the one on top..something about the facial expression..the crooked smile that endears the kid to me
I like the first one best!
These are beautiful and full of life. Nice work.
