Dad's Smile

Today would have been my dad's 82 birthday. I scanned some photos - younger and older versions of him. Most of the time Dad did not like to smile in his school photos, but now and then you caught him smiling. Dad was a very serious man, but when he let his hair down (little joke) he was lots of fun. It is amazing how much I see my brothers in Dad's eyes and smile.

I like the school picture with the hat and beard best. That pic has so much character in it! It's just an amazing photo and I'm sure there is some sort of a back story there, too. I'd put money on that.

I know today is a bittersweet day.

I kind of see a little Lou too.

I could be wrong, but in the pictures where he isn't smiling with his mouth, I see the smile in his eyes.

Buck,
My dad was a character. The beard was his "summer" look away from school, but he liked to keep it long enough to show everyone when the school year started.

BR,
Dad had killer eyes - ice blue. They could smile and laugh at you or freeze you where you stood.

Diva,
There was a whole lot of Lou there.
