Guns, Motorcycles, and Art

Do you think you could tell how much company you have had by the amount of toliet paper used - like yesterday was a whole roll day, but if my sister had been here, it would have been a two roll visit.

My nephew, Adam, came to visit yesterday. He had spent the summer in Germany with his mom, flown into DFW, and come to visit while in the area. We don’t get to see him often. In fact, our last visit was a year ago April at his dad’s wedding. This visit, Adam brought his girlfriend, the very lovely Melissa. Mom and my other nephew, Oliver, came along too. Oliver has a few weeks before he has to be back at A&M. Since they are city cousins, Oliver brought his handgun to do some practice shooting. Jesse got out her 22. She also took the BB gun for old time’s sake (that used to be all they were allowed to shoot). The three cousins and Melissa stood out in the heat and shot up coke cans and a piece of plywood with a bulls-eye painted on it. They rode Jes’ motorcycle around the pasture, although none were big motorcycle riders – it was a new experience. Jesse took photos of all the fun. They eventually gave up the guns and motorcycle to move inside the barn and throw some pots. Melissa threw a pretty nice pot, and Adam turned it back into a lump of clay. She was a good girlfriend and did not throw the pot at him. When Toby got home from work, he cooked fajitas on the grill and made us nectarine daiquiris. Jesse made fresh pico de gallo from our garden veggies. After dinner, Adam and I started a painting while the others watched a movie. Eventually everyone but Adam got tired and was ready to go home. I think Adam could have gone all night doing art. He left wondering how he was going to buy guns, pottery wheel, motorcycle, etc. It was a long day of fun in the sun. I was pooped, but I sure enjoyed my nephs.

Wow. What a full day! Re: the motorcycle. A pasture is the perfect place for a first riding experience... it hurts a lot less if you screw up.

That's quite an elaborate piece of ink on Adam's right arm.

Nyuk! That picture of the kids armed up is priceless! The ol' Daisy BB gun made me chuckle...

Buck, There are several tats on Adam, but the words are a song that his mother wrote for him when he was a baby. I have some pretty strong feelings about that tattoo, but I will not voice them here. His other tattoos are pretty interesting.

Eric, We are definitely the country cousins. I was hoping that coyote family would show up and someone would shoot them, but like the dogs, they took cover.

Jo, wine and golf sounds very pleasant right now - cooler temps would be even better.

Andy, there were some other fun photos, but I hated to steal all of Jesse's pics. I use that BB gun to scare the neighbor's dogs when they come around.

I have strong feelings about tats in general but like you, Lou... I won't voice them here. Live and let live.
