Springtime Travel Bug
For whatever reason, I cannot get the following to divide into separate paragraphs - WTH? The temps have been in the 80's - close to 90. The redbuds are in bloom. Things are greening up. Spring has sprung. I switched out the winter clothes for summer clothes. Then yesterday things changed. The day dawned cool and just kept getting colder. Last night I borrowed one of Jesse's quilts to throw on our bed, since I packed the heavy comforter away. It is a good thing that I have not put the Rubbermaid storage tubs full of winter clothes out in the store house yet, because I had to dig through them to find my sweatshirt yesterday. Looking at this weeks weather forecast, I might as well dig out several long sleeve shirts. Jesse got home from her ski trip. She is sporting a nice face tan. She said the snow in Wolf Creek was great - lots of fresh powder since it snowed several times while they were there. A good time was had by all. This week, stories of her trip will slowly trickle out. Me, I'm a bit of a gusher. Stories pour out of me all at once. Jes is a bit more like Toby - but I will drag the stories out of her eventually. Her friends said it was the best vacation they had ever been on. Jes on the other hand always has grand adventures, and while this ski trip was good, it was not the best vacation ever. That made me think back to some of our adventures and which one was the best. We attended another birthday party this past weekend. At the party they played a "Newlywed" game of sorts. Toby and I won the game and a $25 gift card to Olive Garden - nice! One of the questions was where would your wife want to go for a second honeymoon. That was the toughest question for us. I want to go to lots of places, but my answer was Italy. Part of that was strategy, because I knew Toby would guess that too. But actually, I would love to go back to Scotland, Edinburgh specifically, and do some more exploring. We only spent a day there, and it was not nearly enough time to see the sights. I would like to go back to Banff and Calgary, Canada to hike and bike and kayak. I'd like to go to Hawaii and see my cousin. Hmm, sounds like I got the springtime travel bug. Another question was what is your wife's favorite restaurant. Another tough one for me! OK does not have any of my favorites. Oh, I like to go to Ted's in The City or Chuckwagon here in Velma, but I don't get excited over any of those places. No, when I think of wonderful places to eat - places I could eat at over and over and not get tired of, I think of NM. My favorite place to eat would probably be a toss up between Texas Red's and Sundance - good food, good service, and good friends. Once again, I'm feeling the travel itch.
