Springtime Travel Bug

For whatever reason, I cannot get the following to divide into separate paragraphs - WTH? The temps have been in the 80's - close to 90. The redbuds are in bloom. Things are greening up. Spring has sprung. I switched out the winter clothes for summer clothes. Then yesterday things changed. The day dawned cool and just kept getting colder. Last night I borrowed one of Jesse's quilts to throw on our bed, since I packed the heavy comforter away. It is a good thing that I have not put the Rubbermaid storage tubs full of winter clothes out in the store house yet, because I had to dig through them to find my sweatshirt yesterday. Looking at this weeks weather forecast, I might as well dig out several long sleeve shirts. Jesse got home from her ski trip. She is sporting a nice face tan. She said the snow in Wolf Creek was great - lots of fresh powder since it snowed several times while they were there. A good time was had by all. This week, stories of her trip will slowly trickle out. Me, I'm a bit of a gusher. Stories pour out of me all at once. Jes is a bit more like Toby - but I will drag the stories out of her eventually. Her friends said it was the best vacation they had ever been on. Jes on the other hand always has grand adventures, and while this ski trip was good, it was not the best vacation ever. That made me think back to some of our adventures and which one was the best. We attended another birthday party this past weekend. At the party they played a "Newlywed" game of sorts. Toby and I won the game and a $25 gift card to Olive Garden - nice! One of the questions was where would your wife want to go for a second honeymoon. That was the toughest question for us. I want to go to lots of places, but my answer was Italy. Part of that was strategy, because I knew Toby would guess that too. But actually, I would love to go back to Scotland, Edinburgh specifically, and do some more exploring. We only spent a day there, and it was not nearly enough time to see the sights. I would like to go back to Banff and Calgary, Canada to hike and bike and kayak. I'd like to go to Hawaii and see my cousin. Hmm, sounds like I got the springtime travel bug. Another question was what is your wife's favorite restaurant. Another tough one for me! OK does not have any of my favorites. Oh, I like to go to Ted's in The City or Chuckwagon here in Velma, but I don't get excited over any of those places. No, when I think of wonderful places to eat - places I could eat at over and over and not get tired of, I think of NM. My favorite place to eat would probably be a toss up between Texas Red's and Sundance - good food, good service, and good friends. Once again, I'm feeling the travel itch.

Lou, you just go ahead on, girl.

I will give you all my travel miles, because I don't want to go nowhere!

As to not being able to divide into paragraphs...

I noticed this morning, that when you hit "Enter" while writing a post, The Blogger is not immediately dividing a paragraph. I had to actually move the cursor down manually to start a new paragraph. Hopefully it's just a temporary glitch, because it's a little bit of a pain. But, no big deal, really.

I separated the paragraphs several times, but when I publish, it does its own thang.

Hmmmm...

Oh well. Probably just a temporary hiccup in The Blogger. Better luck next post!

Blogger can be obtuse to the freakin' MAX sometimes. But it's worth every penny ya pay for it...

The travel bug. Yup, me too! I've been feelin' deprived in the good restaurant space all weekend and the ONLY cure for that is travel. Dallas or Houston would be the best and easiest destinations to cure that ill, but a trip to either London or Paris would also be highly desirable, no? Whatevah. Travel plans will be delayed for at least a month to six weeks until the eye surgery odyssey is over...

Buck, get your passport and plan a trip for the fall - after all the kids and families go back to school. That's my favorite time to travel.

After reading an issue of 'Cowboys and Indians' a couple of years ago, I sooo want to go to Italy. If only to see the Northern faming areas.

We are starting to warm in the High Desert. It was about seventy two or so today.
There is a stirling Italian place in Bakersfield, Frugatti's. And City Slickers in Tehachapi, and one in Inyokern that I keep forgetting the name.
All excellent in both food and service.
In NM is Earl's. The best breakfast in the Southwest, to me anyway.

ORPO1, I don't know about Earls, but Monte's Chow Cart and Michael's Kitchen in Taos are hard to beat for a Southwest breakfast.

Deb, you do sooo want to go to Italy. It was lots of fun - lots of amazing places.

Sounds like many of us are getting the travel urge. I always start to think of places to go about this time of year.

Lou, I love Michael's Kitchen in Taos, too. And Tecolote is my favorite breakfast place in Santa Fe.

I haven't had to put away winter clothes yet; it's still cold here. I am getting the gardening urge too, but all I have been able to do so far is start some herbs in pots inside. All the frost danger won't be past for a couple of months.

Is Earl's in Gallup? If so, then we ate there last year. Food great, service not so great.

Sharon, I thought about you and Santa Fe the other day when Jesse and her friends spent the night there. I'm sure things have changed lots since I was there. I'm hoping to make a NM trip this summer.

Yes in Gallup.
Breakfast is the best. When I was there working the ballast trains I loaded up on carbs before long days and nights. It is the railroaders eatery there.
Also bought Christmas gifts for grand daughters, daughters and daughters in law from the vendors there.

Jo, I might just take you up on that reservation this summer.
