My junking went well, but I discovered that I am not a big junker - certainly not on the same level with the Junk Diva. She has an eye for junk and can see the beauty in what it might become. Me, well, I will just let the Diva fix 'er up and then I will buy.
We drove to El Reno pulling a 20' horse trailer/moving van. Downtown El Reno was pretty funky as Okie downtown's go. On the edge of the downtown area was an old building filled with junk. The junk dealer was an older woman who was going out of business. She was interesting and entertaining all by herself. With dyed black hair and more make-up than Mimi from the Drew Carey show, she was a sight. She seemed to use "dammit" and "ass" often in her conversation which I found quite endearing and funny. At first, entering the old building and seeing all the junk was exciting, but then it became overwhelming. It made me feel like I need to go home and clean house or in this case, clean out the barn too. I did buy some old frames, a chair, an old camera, a metal table, and a few other odds and ends. The Diva bought all sorts of old furniture that needed lots of love. Jesses, Lindz, the Hunk Junk and I loaded it into the horse trailer/moving van while the Diva picked and pointed (she is the Diva). When all was said and done, we ate a late lunch at Arby's (puke). Unfortunately, I was starving and ate the whole roast beef sandwich.
Serious heartburn reminded me of my mistake all night long. The good part was being with the Diva, Jesse, and Lindz who are always a riot. I'm glad I went, I am happy with my buys, I would do it again, but it is not my thang. Sorry, I forgot to take any photos - gettin' old ya know!

Me neither. The last time I did anything like this was a flea market in Moscow and that was nearly 20 years ago. Why is it that I think foreign junk is better than American junk? Mebbe coz there's much more of it...
Sounds like a fun day...other than Arby's. I'm sorry you had to eat there. Really. Very sorry.
As an amateur writer from Brisbane, Australia, I rarely come across really well written publications like this blog which really helps me inspirationally. It shows me what superb postings are all about. There are tons of poor writings on the web and it's quite sad. Thank you for your well written posts! I frequently read your blog and enjoy the content you share. I look forward to more of your work.
Glad you came with us, it was a fun day. I love a building filled with JUNK, makes me happy. You don't think her hair was was naturally black?
I agree with Mrs G and you on the Arbys. I prefer a sit down get waited on, with real food kind of place, but the Junk Hunk loves him some Arbys, and you have to keep the help happy. LOL.
Sounds like a good day all around. I hate shopping of any kind! I'm for eating and drinking wine!
Buck, I would think that foreign junk would be interesting.
Mrs. G, Next time I will make better choices on my sandwich.
Ruth, thanks for dropping by.
Diva, As long as the Junk Hunk was happy...
Jo, I like the way you shop!
