Summer Art 8 & 9

Although I did not post it, I did do some art yesterday - not great art, but art.  It has been years since I worked on Yupo paper.  Yesterday I got a wild hair to do some funky watercolor with the Yupo paper.  It is like photo paper - slick and white and does not absorb water, which makes it pool on the page.  The paper is also sensitive to the oil in your fingers.  See where I touched the paper, and it would no longer take paint.  Interesting. You can tell it has been a while since I played with it.  Still, it was fun.

Today, I repainted an old painting. You can see it here. Tomorrow is the deadline to turn in art for a local fund raiser/auction.  I had chosen to turn in the older painting, but Toby seemed disappointed saying he liked the painting.  So, I repainted it today. Now we can keep one of the paintings.  Like I need some paintings in my house.

Ah, beautiful of the houses/barns. You do need paintings in your house I bet. I usually don't have any of mine here, but since I don't show in NM now, I have a few. Plus I don't have many others. Heh. Mine are usually on the floor in the closet, but with the new empty walls, I have them up.

I've never tried Yupo but it sounds hard. Doesn't it wipe off as well? Sure as shootin' I would wipe off the wrong part.

Jo, the Yupo does wipe off, which is good. It just pools so crazy, that it is hard to get the look you want. Ya gotta want crazy.

So, I repainted it today.

My $0.02: turn in/donate the new one.

The Yupo painting is interesting. So... if you can wipe the paper off, does the paint flake when it's dry?

Once it is dry, it will not come off so easy. Strange that. It takes it a while to totally dry, so you have some time.

... both are beautiful, but I prefer the landscape.... my coffee cups are blurry enough in the mornings as it is!.... heh!...
