My Beliefs; Be Warned

Many of my readers do not necessarily share my beliefs and that is okay.  These are my beliefs and they are helpful to me so I am sharing them today.

Years ago, I read something in a historical fiction book that made a big difference in my outlook on life.  It was actually series of books about Germany before WWII and through the fall of the Berlin Wall.  In one book, there was a group of people who would meet secretly and had an underground system to help others get out out of East Germany.  They were depicted as simple folk going about their everyday life making a living and doing the best they could. Just because they lived in an oppressed country did not mean that they gave up their beliefs and values.  They had a strong belief in God and a will to help others.  Eventually the Wall came down and all sorts of people rushed in to  help the oppressed - including church missionaries to make proselytes of the East Germans.  When the missionaries brought their gifts to the simple East Germans in the story, the EG said: Thank you for the Bibles. We  appreciate them, but we don't need your programs.  We have always had God.

And that is how I feel.  I love my country and I will fight and vote what I think is right.  But in the end, if things go downhill and our country falls into socialism or worse, I will still believe in God and hold to my values.  I will still live my life accordingly and follow the laws until they clash with my godly laws.  Yes, my country does approve of abortion, gay unions, homosexuality, fornication, some adultery, etc. but I will not approve those things in my life nor teach them to my children.  Change starts in the home and in the churches.  Since many churches approve those things, it is difficult to change our country.  As for economics and other political issues, I will continue to vote my conscience and try to make things better for our country. And I will teach my children to do the same. No matter what, God is still God and he is the King of His Kingdom. If you were hoping in Romney or the Republican Party, you were disappointed, but that is not where our real hope is.

Matthew 6:31-34

New King James Version (NKJV)
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

We each do what works for us. A strong and righteous set of values works for most people... and those folks are blessed in more ways than one.
